He tells you not to place anything on the wall
as he exists within a vacuum.
He will strip dreams from your hands,
coins from your pocket and, one day,
all the images consigned to the void will
be a reminder in absence that no man
may be a God. Not Moses, not the man
you married, nor the carbon forms who
project into your horizon, canvassing
for things they can steal; heat from the
healing, shaking from the wound, blood
from the birth – or whatever. They want it.
They think they are unseen and so, invisible
but a theory is enough to keep you safe.
